Overview
The system picks preloaded pots of battery slurry (or similar) formulations, mixes and dispenses them, and
uses drawdown bars to create thin film coatings on foil substrates. These foils are then oven dried and
output to a stack of interleaved, coated and dried foils. Once complete, these foils are manually removed
from the system and analysed offline. The target throughput for this system is 48 coatings in 15 hours.
The system has been designed so that it can be integrated with a mobile robot platform. This will be used to
deliver new pots to system which come directly from a previous Labman formulation system.
The entire top half of the system is contained inside a large glovebox. This is fitted with an air management
unit capable of drying the internal atmosphere down to -40°C dewpoint and uses activated charcoal to
capture solvents.
