Overview
Grinding biomass into a fine powder for downstream analysis is needed to investigate plant physiology. Labman have manufactured a number of these systems, and this latest system takes our room-temperature grinding systems to a whole new level. The system picks an input tube and places it into the grinder. The grinding module shakes the tube causing the ball bearings to pulverize the contained plant sample. After grinding, the system then de-clogs and pierces the input tube and places it into the feeding station. An output tube is placed directly below the input tube; the feeding station vibrates the input tube to disrupt the ground sample, thus causing it to fall through the pierced hole and into the output tube below. The weight dispensed is monitored by a 4-place balance. The weight is recorded to an output file, which is easily exportable, before the system returns both the tubes to their specific racks.
